Preschool Prep DVDs Experiment Results Our experiment with the Preschool Prep DVDs set is complete and I’m ready to give my full report! If you missed the explanation of the experiment we did, you can read it here: Preschool Prep DVDs Learning Experiment. We wanted to know if the Preschool Prep DVDs worked as well and as fast as the study the company conducted. Their claims were that many children in a 2 month study learned their letters in only 2 weeks. Although we intended to let the experiment go for 2 months, like the comparison study, we ended it early. Our experiment stopped at about 1 1/2 months because our son, Truett, had already learned all the material! He learned... »View more

During our first full week of the Preschool Prep DVDs experiment with my son, we had a lot of observations about how they work. If you missed the explanation of the experiment we’re doing, you can read it here: Preschool Prep DVDs Learning Experiment. What we really wanted to find out was if they worked as well as the company claims. Our guidelines were to have Truett watch no more than 2 hours a day, and to watch no other TV or movies except for Preschool Prep. He took to the movies immediately and started asking for them the next day! Here are the DVDs he watched for the first week and the times: Day 1 (9/30/09) – Meet the Letters DVD, letters A through F. Meet... »View more
I love experiments, and am very excited to announce our new 2 month experiment testing the Preschool Prep DVD set as a learning tool. Read my updates for the next 2 months as my 2 year old learns the alphabet, colors, shapes, numbers, and 47 kindergarten sight words. Come along on our journey as we update weekly on Truett’s progress with Preschool Prep! The Preschool Prep DVDs have parents and teachers claiming that their babies and toddlers have learned the information to complete mastery in as little as 2 weeks. The back of the package says, “A study of over 50 babies and toddlers, who watched Meet the Letters, resulted in over 90% of these children having complete... »View more
We’ve been happy to have Dutch Boy paint as the sponsor for some of our nifty Home DIY projects this summer. Dutch Boy Refresh paint has been our paint of choice, and we’ve had a wonderful experience using it. If you missed our home DIY project in which we did a makeover on kitchen cabinets, go check it out now to see some amazing before and after pictures! Review: Dutch Boy Refresh Paint Packaging: The packaging on this new paint is definitely designed with ease of use in mind. The Dutch Boy plastic package is much lighter than the traditional heavy paint cans. The Dutch Boy square shape instead of a round can is a much better use of storage space. These paint... »View more
I was asked to review Tisserand’s Blemish Stick, but when I opened the box, I was in for a surprise! 6 other products for me to try out! Tisserand Intensive Hand and Nail Cream First one I was drawn to- the Intensive Hand and Nail cream. I have dry “old lady” looking hands. I am ALWAYS on the lookout for a good but non-greasy hand cream. The bottle is small, 2.5 oz, but this one will last me a long time- you seriously need a pea size dab, and it handles both hands, and all cuticles. The smell is what I call earthy. You can tell all the essential oils that went into this. The fragrances I noticed first were Orange Blossom and Bergamot oil. I also could open a particularly stiff... »View more
When offered to review this product, I had to jump. Being involved with makeup and skin for as long as I have, I’m always up for trying something new. Growing up, I never really had to deal with acne (good genes!)… I really only got breakouts at typical times- right before/after my period, and if I forgot to take off makeup (or used something that aggravated my sensitive/ almost Rosacea skin). Now, crossing the threshold of my 30s, I’m noticing a little more breakouts here and there. Luckily, those breakouts are pretty much immediate pustules that I get rid of with warm compresses (don’t pick ladies- especially with aging skin!). But I’d like something I can apply... »View more
Laundry is one of—if not the—household chore I dread the most. I’ve got a nine-year-old and a thirteen-year-old boy, and doing their laundry (not to mention my husband’s), isn’t the most pleasant job in the house –sorry guys! Anything that cuts down on the time I spend dealing with their dirty clothes is worth a second look. I recently received a new kind of laundry detergent in the mail called “Dropps.” It looked to me kind of like the gel packs you use in your dishwasher. You toss them in the washing machine, turn it on, and that’s it. They’re pre-measured, and you use one or two, depending on the size of the laundry load. Here’s what I like about Dropps: They’re... »View more
We were able to test out the new Febreze Fabric Refresher three times in my family recently, on the worst possible odors! Febreze was able to combat a child who threw up in their bed, a child that wet the bed, and a child that threw up in our moving car! We tested the Febreze fabric refresher in lavender vanilla and comfort scent, which is very light and not overly perfumey. Helpful for Many Common Parent Situations As most parents know, kid accidents come at the worst possible times and in the most inconvenient places. Febreze Fabric Refresher is good for many common situations involving fabric or upholstery that cannot be washed in the washing machine. According... »View more
I admit it – I’ve fallen in love with a laundry product! The new Purex Complete 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets are the most amazing invention in laundry to come along since the automatic washing machine. Since I’m a Purex Insider, they sent me a test pack of their new Purex Complete 3-in-1 Laundry sheets before they were available in stores. I’ve been using them ever since, and I am cringing at the thought of using up my pantry stockpile of regular laundry products (it’s a pretty big stockpile)! Watch the video below to see my explanation and demonstration of how the Purex Complete sheets work: Big Frugal Value I’ve now checked three stores... »View more
This week I tried out the new Febreze NOTICEables Moroccan Bazaar scented oil warmer for review. The packaging says this about the scent: “Inspired by the fragrances of fresh-ground ginger and nutmeg that fill the air in the spice markets of Casablanca.” With a description like that, who wouldn’t want to smell this scented oil air freshener in their house?! This was my first time using a plug-in air freshener of any brand, so I didn’t know how strong or noticeable the scent would be. For this reason, I chose to put it in my rather small bathroom so that I would be able to tell how quickly it could scent a room. Easy to Use Having never used a plug-in freshener like... »View more
